What is torque?

Torque is the force that acts on a pivot point under a lever arm (torque=force x lever arm).
The physical unit for specifying torque is Newton metres (Nm).

How is torque generated?

Torque is generated in the air gap (between the stator and rotor). In almost all electrical machines (with the exception of reluctance motors)
, it is primarily generated by the force exerted on the current conductors in the magnetic field (Lorentz force).

Md=9550 x P / n

Units of measurement used:

Torque Md=Newton metres [Nm]
Power P=Kilowatt [kW]
Speed n=Revolutions [min-1]
