8. What needs to be considered when installing an electric motor?
Ensure even support, good base or flange mounting and precise alignment for direct coupling. Resonances with the rotational frequency and double the mains frequency caused by the design must be avoided. Rotors must be turned by hand and attention should be paid to unusual grinding noises. The direction of rotation in the uncoupled state must be checked. Drive elements (pulley, coupling, etc.) should only be fitted or removed using suitable devices (heating!) and covered with a contact guard. Impermissible belt tensions must be avoided. Suitable precautions must be taken against the long-term effects of dust, water and solar radiation (e.g. surface protection). If the shaft end is facing upwards, the ingress of water along the shaft must be prevented.
